  140. 2.2 DUMBWAITER
  141. NOTE ** Geared automatic brake dumbwaiters are used
  142.         primarily in restaurants, nursing homes, libraries,
  143.         schools, warehouses, clubs, government buildings,
  144.         and other commercial applications.
  145. NOTE **
  146. NOTE ** Standard models are numbered as follows:  GS models
  147.         are front opening, GD models are front and rear
  148.         opening, and GCP models are front and side opening.
  149.         A "1" preceding the model type is rated at 125
  150.         pounds.  A "2" preceding the model type is rated at
  151.         150 pounds.  "3" corresponds to 175 pounds, "4" to
  152.         200 pounds, and "5" to 250 pounds.

  154. NOTE ** For example, 3GD is a front and rear opening
  155.         dumbwaiter rated at 175 pounds capacity.

  158.     A.  Provide heavy-duty commercial grade system, model _____,

  213. 3.1 EXAMINATION
  214.  
  215.     A.  Verify that finished hoistway is plumb and square and
  216.         correctly sized.
  217.  
  218.     B.  Verify that horizontal guide rail blocking is in correct
  219.         position, securely fastened, and ready for connection of
  220.         guide rails.

  222.     C.  Verify that machine supports of proper size are in
  223.         position and that openings to hoistway are properly sized
  224.         and located.

  226. 3.2 INSTALLATION
  227. NOTE ** For commercial applications only, geared models
  228.         comply with ASME standards only when a steel car is
  229.         used.
  230. NOTE **
  231. NOTE ** Delete the paragraph below for residential
  232.         applications, or when plywood car is used in
  233.         commercial applications.

  235.     A.  Install dumbwaiter in accordance with ASME A17.1.
  236.  
  237.     B.  Comply with manufacturer's instructions for assembly and
  238.         installation of all dumbwaiter components.

  240. 3.3 ADJUSTING AND CLEANING
  241.  
  242.     A.  Verify that dumbwaiter is properly installed and
  243.         operating smoothly.  Make any adjustments required to
  244.         achieve safe and quiet operation.
  245.  
  246.     B.  Clean any exposed areas that have become soiled during
  247.         installation process, using materials and cleaning agents
  248.         appropriate for substrate.
